"Hot as a pistol" reported my contact on Mille Lacs on Saturday. "I stopped counting at 40 fish" The fish were caught on a leech and a long snelled Lindy rig in 18 to 24 feet of water. My contact stated hr didn't even go out on Sunday as he had his fill of pulling in fish. The fish ranged 17 inches to 27 inches with a great majority of them in the over 20" slot which of course had to go right back in. This type of bite is great fun for all ages as the fish 20 to 27 inch fight like crazy and the fight lasts a long time because you are pulling them up from relatively deep water. The kids wouold really get a kick out of this type of fishing as well as all you need is a spinning rod with a little back bone and "start realing"! Contact Troy about the specifics or if you want to target 28 plus inch fish... Reply to this

... The walleye opener is May 12, 2007. The opener on Mille Lacs started with a bang - many good reports rolled in throughout the day Saturday. Most of the bite was in 15-22 feet on the deep side of the north-end sand and also in Vineland Bay. Floating snells or plain rigs tipped with a leech seemed to do the trick.
